Jeff,
First, I think we've got to move those Flyer talks to the toaster-l list,
some people are getting nasty here about crowding the lightwave list with
"non-related" mail. So I am forwarding this post to the toaster-l list.
Regarding your question, here is what I am expecting with the Flyer and its
support for time code. My whishes are listed in priority order:
1- Capture of the digitized video segments time code information
2- Possibility to automatically batch redigitize all the video footage involved
in the edit master at a different quality level. This is certainly the most
valuable feature since it will save a lot of hard drive space and facilitate
drives management when working with several projects at a time or with other
users. Lets not forget that the money people will have to pay to have a really
workable configuration (let say at least 2 x 8Gig hard drives) is mosly going to
be consumed by the drives purchase. However drives prices are falling down
rapidly and if a technology breakthrough occurs that may not become a real issue.
3- Possibility to print out an EDL showing the clips original TC (not the edit
master one), the original reel number. Also, it would be nice to printout
an EDL in a storyboard form where each video cut would be represented by
an icon (actual video frame) a la AVID.
I just wrote that on the fly but I'll have to think a little more about it and
will let you know.
Thierry.
